The Sponsored Program Operations office at Buffalo State exists to promote, support and administer research, scholarship and creative and entrepreneurial activities as a commitment to Buffalo State, SUNY, and the broader community.

 

The Research Foundation for SUNY

The SUNY Research Foundation (RF) is the largest comprehensive university-connected research foundation in the country. It provides essential administrative services that enable State University of New York (SUNY) faculty to focus their efforts on educating students and performing life-changing research across a wide range of disciplines including Artificial Intelligence, Clean Energy, Biotechnology, Longevity, Substance Addiction, Nextgen Quantum Computing, Environmental Health, and Resiliency. The RF works with the academic and business leadership of SUNY campuses to facilitate research and discovery by administering sponsored projects and delivering intellectual property and technology transfer services that fuel innovation and move ideas and inventions to the marketplace. The RF is a private non-profit education cor­poration that is tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c) (3).

The RF Board of Directors oversees the operations of the corporation in accordance with its stated mission and purpose. This voluntary board draws members from various constituencies including SUNY faculty, researchers, campus and system administrators, as well as individuals representing business, industry, and community sectors.

History

Chartered in 1951 by the New York State Board of Regents as a non-profit education corporation the RF advances innovation and economic development across the SUNY system and New York State supporting institutional commitments to research and scholarship and making SUNY the best place for innovators and entrepreneurs to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
