Technology Transfer is the movement of novel inventions, discoveries, processes, techniques, devices, and substances as well as intellectual property developed at SUNY facilities to private organizations to be developed for commercial use.
The Research Foundation for SUNY is the private, nonprofit educational corporation charged with managing the sponsored research programs and technology transfer efforts of the SUNY system. The technology transfer offices of the Research Foundation (RF) work on behalf of SUNY and its researchers to identify, protect, and commercialize the university’s intellectual property portfolio. RF staff work with academic and business leadership to support essential research and discovery that translate into invention, innovation, entrepreneurship, economic opportunity and public benefit.
The first step in the process is to complete the "New Technology Disclosure" form and submit it to the Campus Liaison for Technology Transfer:
